It seems like just yesterday Russell Westbrook was a young NBA player sitting in the front row of his first fashion show. A few years later and he’s literally making sunglasses for the entire league.
This morning, Westbrook’s eyeglasses firm, Westbrook Frames, announced that it has partnered with the NBA to create sunglasses for all 30 of its teams. Aviator styles for seven of the teams (the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Boston Celtics, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Miami Heat, the New York Knicks, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Brooklyn Nets, whose pair you can see below) are available for pre-order now at $145 a pop. A representative for the company told the Associated Press that others will be released in due course.
For Westbrook, the partnership is a natural next step in his fashion evolution. He tested the waters with a Barneys collaboration late last year, and he’s one of the few fashion-forward NBA players who’s turned his affinity for clothes and accessories into an actual business.
